Inside Your Heaven (open)

"I wasn't stalking you, I was-" Brian started before suddenly going quiet, frowning. "Okay maybe I was, a little..." He looked away as he ran a hand through his hair before looking back at her with a smirk, acting more like a regular demon again, sneering at her. "Who says I actually wanted you to be my friend?"

Nolee frowned after he responded with what he did. Gulping down her fear, she managed to ask, "What is it you want from me?"

"I told you," Brian replied, shrugging his shoulders. "But then you rudely accused me of stalking you. I may have, but I hadn't intended to, I was...curious." He said quietly, his voice softer again, though still not nice as he had been speaking earlier.

"Curious?" Nolee asked, cocking her head to the side. "Why would a demon like you have any curiosity in an angel like me? I thought you all hated angels."

"That's a stereotype," Brian said as he shook his head. "Do you really believe everything the other Angels tell you?"

"Yes," Nolee replied as she ran her hand through her hair. "Most of what the other angels tell me comes from my brother and he's never been wrong before."

"Has he ever actually spoken to a demon before though?" Brian asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well...my papa said that not all demons, like him and my half brother Kip, are bad but I should really learn to avoid others cuz as a Raphaelite, the demons like to corrupt people like me..." replied Nolee softly. Her eyes scanned the area, looking for an escape route if she needed one.

"Oh don't worry," Brian chuckled. "It's not just you they'd try and corrupt, some would do it to any 'innocent' type they come across; if they get the chance..." He said with a smirk.

"How do you know I'm innocent?" Nolee haughtily replied, "for all you know I've been changed and cast from heaven and that's why I'm on Earth."

Brian laughed, shaking his head at her. "Your wings kind of give it away," He said. "There's no way they threw you out. Odds are you probably haven't even been up there..." He added with a smirk.

"Who says I didn't fix my wings?" Nolee replied with a soft look, her wings curling against her back. "And whats it matter if I've been up there or not? You've never been down there."

"As far as I know, you can't fix your wings." Brian said, shaking his head at her before frowning. "And what makes you think I haven't been down there? I'm not a half breed like your precious brother, down there they'd gladly welcome a demon with powers like mine..."

"My brother isn't a halfbreed demon I'll have you know," Nolee replied, "I have three brothers. One of them is a troll, one of them is an angel like me, and one of them is a demon. And besides...wings could be fixed with makeup if the person wanted them to be..."

"Oh right, he's your half-brother." Brian said, correcting himself before shrugging his shoulders. "So your father's a typical demon then? Not really one for sticking around with someone else for too long..." He chuckled, trying to see how much he could bother Nolee again, thinking of it as some sort of game.

"Make up? Wouldn't that take a while? Hardly worth the effort...." Brian said, frowning, though he was starting to get curious about the angel.

"For your information," Nolee coldly started, "my father only got with other species because my mother was killed in the throws of battle with the demons. She was executed for falling in love with a demon. My father did everything that he could to save her but it just didn't work."

She stepped back and looked at her wings before she ran a hand through her hair, "It doesn't matter. Makeup doesn't matter at all."

"Oh..." Was all Brian could think to say, looking off at nothing in particular to avoid Nolee's eyes. He nervously ran a hand through his hair, shifting his feet as if he was considering just turning and running off, but he stayed where he was.

"...how doesn't the make up matter?" He eventually asked. "You'd only need it if you'd been bad." He said, smirking a little.

"It's not being bad," she said a little to quickly and a little to defensivley, "You don't know anything about my life and I would appreciate it if you didn't act like you did."

"Right, sure it's not." Brian said, rolling his eyes. "I didn't say I knew anything about your life, nor am I assuming it. I just know that other angels have had to do that..." He added before trailing off.

"You weren't always a demon...were you?" Nolee asked as she stepped closer, a little braver now.

"Why would you think that?" Brian asked, frowning as she stepped closer, the demon leaning away slightly from her. "Why would I have ever been like you?"

"Because all demons were at one point," Nolee pointed out, "most of them fell from grace because they quit believing. I may not know much about you, demon, but I can read your heart like an open book. I can read everyone's heart like that. Your heart tells me that once upon a time you were a happy, carefree angel but something happened to make you question everything you knew. Who were they? Why did you want to stop believing all because of them?"

"I- Not all of us were...some were born from other demons..." Brian responded, quickly trying to cover up his hesitation. He didn't like that she was able to read him so easily, it bothered him.

"Were you," Nolee asked, her eyes childish and inquisitive. Something about him no longer scared her. In fact, she was intrigued by him now.

"Uh- It...it's not important." Brian muttered, shaking his head. "Why do you even want to know?" He asked, looking at her as if he didn't trust her, despite Nolee being the angel.
